Our Commitment

As an environmentally and socially responsible organisation, Langham Hotels International (LHI) (including Eaton properties) recognises the potential impact of our activities on the environment and within local communities and the tourism industry.

As an advocate of sustainability, we continue to embrace and practice sustainable business development. We acknowledge the important role we play as a global hotelier in managing our operations ethically whilst creating a sense of environmental awareness and appreciation for the environment. Programmes such as ‘Guests of the Earth’ illustrate our commitment to sharing this vision with all of our guests. 

At LHI we recognise the importance of applying holistic management plans, policies and strategies that seek to highlight the three fundamental components of good sustainable business practice: environmental protection, economics and social equity. This understanding helps to guide the company’s vision whilst ensuring that we actively manage our properties in the best interest of our colleagues, suppliers, guests, stakeholders and interested parties.

We believe that sustainability is not a destination but a life long journey with each initiative and programme leading to many more exciting and rewarding challenges and benefits. As a global company, we embrace this journey with open arms at all of our sites, and look forward to improving the efficiency of our operations whilst minimising our footprint on the environment and learning to be better environmental stewards.

In terms of operating plans and policies, we have reviewed international research and identified the following areas to focus on and obtain verifiable improvement and results:

  • Ecosystem conservation management
  • Air quality protection and noise control
  • Waste water management
  • Solid waste management
  • Management of harmful substances
  • Land use and planning management
  • Management of social and cultural issues

We are relatively new to environmental sustainability but we have shown that we are passionate about our commitment and are delighted to present results which speak for themselves.
